Musical worship today: Mighty to Save, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord; Invitation - Man of Sorrows Principles of Readiness - Matthew 24-25 Scripture References - This has been a multiple week series and this space doesn't accommodate all of the past scripture references. Each week, this information is shared on our Facebook page [First Baptist Church of Burden, KS] Last 2 week's information - *Principle #11 [Matt. 24:33] To be ready, the believer understands & believes that when all the evidence of summer is present...SUMMER IS NEAR! Likewise, when the evidences of the end are present...THE END IS NEAR! *Principle #12 [Matt.24:35] To be ready, the believer understands & believes that though this present creation will all pass away, the words of Christ (& thereby all the breathed Word of God) will NOT pass away. *Principle #13 [Matt. 24:36, 39, 42, 44, 50] To be ready, the believer understands & believes that, just like in the days of Noah, though they did not know the exact time of its coming...the coming of Divine Judgment was IMMINENT. Likewise, b/c no one except the Father alone knows the exact time of Christ's coming, we should be moved by the imminence of Christ's coming (or our going) to an ongoing & very constant state of READY for His coming or out going! *Principle #14 [Matt.24:46] To be faithful & wise (ready), the believer understands & believes that "ready" is not at all merely intellectual or conceptual (theory/thought) But rather, "ready" is very actual & an ongoing verb or action. Just as faith without works is dead, so also, any claim of "ready" without faithful, ongoing action is deceived & false. New information this week - Principles of Readiness ... The Consequence Principle #15 [Matt. 24:50-51] The believer understands & believes that because it is the faithful, ongoing, enduring actions of "ready" [fruit] that actually prove the reality of someone's readiness; the consequences of not being ready are just, horrible, and eternal. *Matthew 24:50-51 *Matthew 25:10-12 *Matthew 25:26-30 *Matthew 25:41-46 *Luke 12:47-48 *James 4:17 *1 John 3:10 *3 John 5-8 *Hebrews 10:31 *Revelation 22:12-15 *1 Corinthians 15:1-8 Principle #16 [Matt.24:25] See, HE HAS TOLD US BEFOREHAND!!! We have the whole story, cover to cover, from before the beginning of time to beyond the end of time God has declared...and in these last days He has spoken through His Son! *Matthew 24:25 Do you know what Jesus said...Do you know what Jesus taught...Do you know what Jesus commanded...Are you mixing it with faith...ARE YOU READY?

Welcome to worship today! "Most men will not ignore the present world that they can see in order to make the world they cannot see the object of their desires. Welcome to worship today! The new convert is tested to see if the words he professes are justified with corresponding fruit in his life. Livestream will then be paused during musical worship [due to copyright issues]; we will restart at approximately 11:20 with today's message from Pastor Mike Marker. Musical worship today: Jesus Thank You; When We See Your Face; To Live Is Christ; Invitation - All To Jesus I Surrender Scripture References - Principles of Readiness - Matthew 24-25 In response to Jesus' speaking destruction over Jerusalem & the temple, the disciples asked 3 questions: 1. When will these things happen...when will this happen? 2. What will be the sign of Your coming...what will it look like? 3. And of the end of the...how long will it last? These questions are normal in times & circumstances of uncertainty; especially w/ the way Christ had been speaking. Christ gives the "Olivet Discourse" in response. He will use a time in human history unlike any other...the time of the Tribulation; a time none of them will physically see, to teach them how to be READY in every circumstance & time. The setting of this discourse by Christ is the Tribulation...the theme of this discourse by Christ is readiness before Him when He comes. Review of past weeks - #1-10 *Principle #1: [Matt.24:1-2] To be ready, the believer sees their life & the things of this world through their temporary nature. *Principle #2: [Matt.24:4-5] To be ready, the believer guards themselves against deception. *Principle #3: [Matt.24:6-8] To be ready, the believer is not troubled...right prayer, right thinking, right living. *Principle #4: [Matt.24:8] To be ready, the believer understands & believes that "these things" are not the end, but "birth pains" which indicate the end is coming. *Principle #5: [Matt.24:9] To be ready, the believer understands & believes that we are not above our Master, & we too will be persecuted. *Principle #6: [Matt.24:10] To be ready, the believer understands that many who are "Christians" will...be offended (stumble), deny their faith (false believers), will betray & hate one another. *Principle #7 [Matt.24:11] To be ready, the believer understands that many false prophets & teachers WILL rise up & deceive many. *Principle #8: [Matt.24:12] To be ready, the believer understands that because of lawlessness (false teachers proclaiming a false gospel that leads to a false conversion that leads to a false profession that has NO regeneration...or conversion...or Holy Spirit given or Holy Spirit produced power or Agape love); false love will fail. Because of this lack of of true God life or God love in the heart of the unregenerate, when affliction rises & the winds of persecution begin to blow, the "human" sourced love of many (the unregenerated professions) will grow cold. *Principle #9: [Matt.24:13] To be ready, the believer understands that the enduring love of God (Agape) through the life of the truly regenerate proves itself valid & true & saving by its enduring to the very end. *Principle #10 [Matt.24:14] To be ready, the believer understands & believes that this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, before the end can come. Not fallen society, false teachers, persecution, the Anti-Christ, nor Satan himself can keep this Gospel from going out & accomplishing ALL God has determined. And after that is accomplished by God Himself, then the end WILL COME. Review of past weeks - *Principle #1: [Matthew 24:1-2] To be ready, the believer sees their life & the things of this world through their temporary nature. *Principle #2: [Matthew 24:4-5] To be ready, the believer guards themselves against deception. *Principle #3: [Matthew 24:6-8] To be ready, the believer is not troubled ... right prayer, right thinking, right living. *Principle #4: [Matthew 24:8] To be ready, the believer understands and believes that "these things" are not the end, but "birth pains" which indicate the end is coming. *Principle #5: [Matthew 24:9] To be ready, the believer understands & believes that we are not above our Master, and we too will be persecuted. New information this week: *Principle #6: [Matthew 24:10] To be ready, the believer understands that because of the violence against & hatred toward Christians, MANY who identified as "Christian"... --will be offended [to stumble] --deny their "faith" [false gospels bring about pretending attenders] --and will betray & hate one another. "Persecution would reveal the traitors within the Church as well as the enemies without." [Spurgeon] *Matthew 10:16-39 *Luke 21:12-19 *2 Timothy 4:14 *Principle #7: [Matthew 24:11] To be ready, the believer understands that many false prophets & teachers WILL rise up & deceive many. *Christ - Matthew 7:15-20 *Paul - Acts 20:28-32 *Peter - 2 Peter 2:1-3, 18-22 *John - 1 John 2:18-19, 26-27; 4:1-6; 2 John 7-11 *Jude - Jude 4-19

Welcome to worship today! "Better, though difficult, the right way to go. Than wrong, though easy, where the end is woe." John Bunyan [1628-1688] The Pilgrim's Progress Livestream will begin at 10:55 with morning announcements & offertory message [Jim Wharton]. Livestream will then be paused during musical worship [due to copyright issues]; we will restart at approximately 11:20 with today's message from Pastor Mike Marker. Musical worship today: Christ Our Wisdom; Be Still, Be Still, My Soul (Psalm 46); Speak, O Lord; Invitation - The Lord is My Salvation. Scripture References - Principles of Readiness - Matthew 24-25 In response to Jesus' speaking destruction over Jerusalem & the temple, the disciples asked 3 questions: 1. When will these things happen...when will this happen? 2. What will be the sign of Your coming...what will it look like? 3. And of the end of the...how long will it last? These questions are normal in times & circumstances of uncertainty; especially with the way Christ had been speaking. Review of past weeks - Principle #1: [Matthew 24:1-2] To be ready, the believer sees their life & the things of this world through their temporary nature. Principle #2: [Matthew 24:4-5] To be ready, the believer guards themselves against deception. Principle #3: [Matthew 24:6-8] To be ready, the believer is not troubled ... right prayer, right thinking, right living. Principles of Readiness [Matthew 24-25; Hebrews 10:23-25] Principle #4: [Matthew 24:8] To be ready, the believer understands and believes that "these things" are not the "end" of things. They are the early "labor pains" or "indicators" that something (the tribulation) much greater in intensity and in effect IS coming. These labor pains: -Will increase in frequency & intensity as the tribulation draws closer, just as physical labor pains increase in frequency & intensity before delivery. -Are just the beginning, not the end. Jesus makes clear that these "pains" are just the start and WILL grow stronger & worse as the day approaches. -Are unexpected to mankind in their timing & unnoticed in their message: but Sovereignly under God's decreed will. People will be saying "peace & safety", but will not be ready for this destruction when it comes suddenly upon them. *Isaiah 13:6-13 *Mark 13:8 *Romans 8:22-23 *1Thessalonians 5:1-11 Principle #5: [Matthew 24:9] To be ready, the believer truly believes the words of Christ when He said that the servant is not above the Master! Christians always have been...are currently...and will be delivered up to tribulation, and killed, and hated for Christ's sake and for the sake of the Gospel. Believers count it as glory to suffer for His sake...even as He suffered for our sake. *Matthew 5:10-12, 10:16-39 *John 15:18-21 *Romans 8:16-17 *2 Corinthians 4:16-18 *Philippians 1:29 *2 Timothy 2:8-13, 3:12 *1 Peter 4:12-19

Principle #1: Matthew 24:1-2 - To be ready, the believer sees their life and the things of this world "through" their temporary nature. I...and ALL these things are passing. The believer lives in the light of eternity. Christ's Kingdom is NOT of this world & neither are we to be! *John 18:36 *2 Corinthians 4:16-18 *2 Peter 3:8-13 *1 John 2:15 Principle #2: Matthew 24:4-5 - To be ready, the believer guards themselves against deception. Welcome to worship today! Livestream will begin at 10:55 with morning announcements & offertory message. It will then be paused during musical worship (due to copyright rules); stream will restart at approximately 11:20 with today's message from Pastor Mike Marker. Musical worship today: In Christ Alone, Behold Our God, As the Deer; Invitation - I Will Sing of My Redeemer. Scripture References - Readiness ... Matthew 24-25 To be "ready" is to be prepared, equipped, & in a suitable state for action with regard to an event. -Preparedness: In a state of completion or readiness for an action -Willingness: Eager or disposed to do something. -Promptness: Showing ease & speed; such as with a "ready answer". -Availability: Conveniently available for use or action. -Imminence: On the point of action...at the ready for something "imminent". As New Testament Christians...we understand & affirm that to be "ready" before Holy God one must first be born from above, regenerated, by the Holy Spirit through faith in the sufficient sacrificial, substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Then, after Biblical regeneration by the Holy Spirit, we see the readiness of regenerate believers as the Spirit of God does His sanctifying work in them. 1] Primarily, believers (followers) in the Lord Jesus Christ are to be ready for His coming: *Matthew 24:44 *Luke 12:40 *Revelation 19:7, 22:12 2]We are to be ready in giving *2 Corinthians 8:19 *2 Corinthians 9:2-5 *1 Timothy 6:18 3] We are to be ready for good (beautiful) works *Matthew 5:16 *1 Timothy 6:18 *Titus 2:7, 2:14, 3:1, 3:8, 3:14 4] We are to be ready to punish all disobedience of thought life *2 Corinthians 10:6 5] We are to be ready to witness; in season & out *2 Timothy 4:2 *1 Peter 3:15 6] We are to be ready to give an account to Him who will judge *2 Corinthians 5:9-10 *1 Peter 4:5 7] Do we genuinely desire to be ready? - Matthew 24:44 8] Are we willing to mix this teaching with faith? - Hebrews 4:2 9] Are we willing to repent as the Spirit of God convicts? - Revelation 3:19 1-] My heart for each of you & us as a Church is: *Be found READY (faithful) - 1 Corinthians 4:2 *Not ashamed of the Gospel - Romans 1:16 *Not ashamed of the testimony - 2 Timothy 1:8 *Not ashamed at His coming - 1 John 2:28
